ete P. Sena III is president and chief operating officer for FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
Pete joined the company in 1996 as an assistant shift supervisor at the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, Pa. In 2002, following a stint as an operational evaluator with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), he was named manager of site operations at Beaver Valley. In 2005 he was named director of Engineering. In 2007 Pete was named Beaver Valley director of Site Operations and later that year was named Beaver Valley site vice president. Pete was named senior vice president, FENOC Operations, in 2009. He was promoted to his current position in February 2011.
Prior to joining the company, Pete was employed by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission as a resident inspector. From 1985 to 1990, he was an officer in the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Alexander Hamilton nuclear submarine.
Pete earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in fuel science from Pennsylvania State University. He also holds a Senior Reactor Operator license for both Beaver Valley Unit 1 and Unit 2. He is a graduate of the INPO senior nuclear plant manager course.
