"How Will We Travel in the Future?

The Role of Transportation in Building Sustainable Regions"

William W. Millar presented a futuristic look at the role of transportation in building sustainable regions. Mr. Millar retired in 2012 after 15 years at the helm of the American Public Transportation Association. For 13 years of his 40-year career, he was CEO of the Port Authority of Allegheny County. Millar is also past chair of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies.

This lecture was sponsored by the Dick Thornburgh Forum for Law and Public Policy and the University Honors College in conjunction with the Center for Metropolitan Studies at Pitt’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.

Governor Thornburgh

The Dick Thornburgh Forum for Law & Public Policy was established in 2007 at the late Dick Thornburgh’s Law School alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh. In conjunction with the Dick Thornburgh Papers held by the University's Hillman Library, the Forum reflects Dick's lifelong work in public service. The Forum is in intended to foster discourse on issues vital to the preservation of our democratic system and the Rule of Law upon which that system depends.
